{"id":1647,"date":"2018-12-02T21:14:39","date_gmt":"2018-12-03T05:14:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.certainly-strange.com\/?p=1647"},"modified":"2018-12-02T21:18:41","modified_gmt":"2018-12-03T05:18:41","slug":"making-dagoth-ur-hands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.certainly-strange.com\/?p=1647","title":{"rendered":"Making Dagoth Ur Hands"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the Dagoth Ur costume hands (to go with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.certainly-strange.com\/?p=1643\">Dagoth Ur Mask<\/a>), I initially did a few trial runs with gluing the nails onto my hands and painting my hands with the facepaint, but I soon ended up with facepaint on everything. So I elected to instead make gloves. Luckily the cloth wrist (and ankle) wraps cover all the seams, so I don&#8217;t have to worry about that.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First, I glued long pointy nails onto grey gloves. I used superglue, because they don&#8217;t ever need to come off, so I didn&#8217;t bother with nail glue:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a data-flickr-embed=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/58189808@N03\/45330052834\/in\/dateposted\/\" title=\"Making the Dagoth Ur Gloves: Before Paint\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4813\/45330052834_21fc7d353f_z.jpg\" alt=\"Making the Dagoth Ur Gloves: Before Paint\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\"><\/a><script async=\"\" src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then I dry-brushed black onto the gloves, to bring out hand\/finger details, and to make the nails look like they reach really far back onto the finger. I went back and fourth for weeks trying to decide if I should make the nails red (the way Dagoth Ur&#8217;s nails actually appear) or black (which I thought would look scarier). I went with black, and I don&#8217;t know whether that was the right call.
