It won’t be the witches that are burning this time.

Blackbird Raum are returning to the Gilman next Friday, and I am pretty darn excited to see them again. They are excellent live performers, and seeing them is always a treat. For my birthday last year, Doc gave me a big ol back patch, embroidered with the cover art for their “Hail Seizures” album. Now I’ve got it all sewn onto a jacket, and it is quite spectacular.

The “Hail Seizures” back patch, given to me by my husband

Blackbird Raum have the most original, creative, amazing, and energetic sound that I have heard from any band. I love their messages of militant environmentalism and rejection of the superficial trappings that are stifling most people whilst killing the planet. I like to listen to it and get all pumped up and “yea, what are we doing just sitting around talking about the problems instead of actually taking action??” I guess it makes me feel less powerless against all the destruction.

Saw through the tendons, Throw down the yoke,
Turn off the gas before we choke!
