I recently got my first pair of raw denim selvedge jeans from Self Edge Denim on Valencia and they even hemmed them up for me so now I finally get to wear them around. The pair I got were some 3sixteens, and were actually these jeans here. They are quite stretchy, so I doubt very much that they are 100% cotton, but it is not clear what they are made of. The most my research on Cone’s S-Gene Denim has turned up, is that maybe it is a blend of 92% ring spun cotton, 7% polyester and 1% Elastane. It seems that 100% cotton jeans for women are so very rare these days.
I am glad that they are all American made (and American grown cotton), so my money has gone back into the US economy. I am excited to see how they will fade, but my search for 100% cotton jeans (that look good on me, as a woman) continues!
Well, to come clean, I do actually own one pair of 100% cotton jeans that fit me really well and are flattering, but I rarely wear them because, umm…
Because they are really flashy with pleather sewn on and I only ever wear them as a joke. Also they are not raw denim, or selvedge denim. I suppose I could pick off all those pleather stars and bars that somebody painstakingly sewed on (either because they thought it would be a joke, or because they took it very seriously) so I can wear them more often. But I found them in a second-hand store in downtown Santa Cruz, and I feel like they are part of the charm.
So far if I find raw denim, it isn’t cotton; and if I find cotton denim, it isn’t raw.
Get some nydj Angelina black coated denim leggings; you will glad you did !
Dear Steen;
Wear your jeans tucked into boots . a good ,used , Western gun belt with holsters would make a great cowgirl image. !968 “s ” Shakiest Gun in the West ” has Barbara Rhoades as a cowboy bandit dressed in brown jeggings ( yes, jeggings ) tucked into tall beige, suede cowboy boots with gun leathers on her hips.
